Children, Parents & Consent

Effective 2026-10-03 · Version 2026-10-03

This notice explains how PawQuest handles children's information and parental consent.

Ages 13 and up

Users 13 and older may create their own account after confirming their age and accepting PawQuest's terms. Parents of teens should supervise use.

Under 13

A child under 13 cannot activate an account on their own. A parent or legal guardian who is 18 or older and lives in the same household must invite the child and complete verifiable parental consent (VPC) before PawQuest collects or uses the child's information beyond what is needed for the consent process. Same-household confirmation is an extra PawQuest rule and is stored privately as an attestation — we do not collect or publish a household address.

Under-13 access is not yet available. Parents can set up an invitation, but child accounts stay pending until a compliant verifiable consent method is offered.

What an invitation does — and doesn't

Linking a child to a parent invitation keeps the account pending. It never activates the child, and a checkbox or email invitation alone is not treated as verifiable consent.

Parent controls

Parents can see the status of linked child accounts, revoke consent at any time (which disables the child's access), and request deletion of their child's account and information. Where COPPA applies, parents may review their child's personal information, have it deleted, and refuse further collection. Requests are made from Profile → Privacy & Data.

Minimal data

We collect only what is reasonably necessary for a child's participation, do not show children's precise locations, and do not sell children's information.
