Practical Safety Tips
Last updated 2026-10-03
Quick, practical tips. The formal rules are in the Safety & Location Disclosure.
What you post can be seen and shared
- Anything public can be copied, screenshotted or shared by others.
- Don't post your home address, gate code, school, phone, email or daily routine.
- Public locations on PawQuest are approximate on purpose. Keep them that way.
Meeting people
- PawQuest does not background-check or verify ordinary users.
- Meet in a busy public place in daylight, bring another adult, and tell someone where you're going.
- Don't go into a stranger's home or invite them into yours. Leave if anything feels wrong.
- For handovers, consider a shelter, vet clinic or police station lobby.
Unfamiliar animals
- Unknown animals may bite, scratch or carry disease. Don't corner or chase them.
- Don't trespass or put yourself in danger to reach an animal.
- Contact animal control, a shelter or a vet for injured or dangerous animals.
AI and PetMatch
- Treat matches as leads, never as proof of identity or ownership. Verify with microchips, vets or shelters.
Emergencies
- Call 911 (or your local emergency number) if anyone is in danger. PawQuest isn't an emergency, police, vet or animal-control service.
